Notre Dame d’Afrique (Fortuné Evangélisti)

The parish church was built on land donated by the Schleinger family and financed by donations. It was the bishop of Nice, Monsignor Ricard, who came to dedicate it on September 14, 1927. The church was baptized Saint Germaine de Pibrac by the bishop whose mother was named Germaine.

Saint Germaine, born in 1579, lived in Pibrac near Toulouse where she died in 1601. She was a virtuous little charitable shepherdess and filled with compassion for the poor and the sick while she herself lived a very miserable life. The newly restored church, forecourt, bell wall, steel cross with Christ in bronzed metal in 2007, rebuilt building surmounted by a blue glazed tile roof was consecrated after the work, 91 days to the day after its first consecration, October 14, 2018.

Jousting boats

Nautical jousts, a spectacle of water battles, originated in Greece and then under the Roman Empire. It is in the fifteenth century that they are practiced especially on the Mediterranean coast. Theoule’s wooden boats date from the 20th century and their prow represents Neptune, the god of the sea.

Bronze bust of Charles Dahon (Tizziano)

Charles Dahon was the first mayor of Théoule-sur-mer in 1929. The bust was sealed on the Charles Dahon parking place during the 80th anniversary of the town in 2009.

Fountain (Jean-Yves Lechevallier 1987)

The fountain in General Bertrand’s Square was carved on site from a solid stone block.

Birth of the woman (the work is on site near the SNCF station).

Aphrodite (Jean Laniau)

Work in front of the Théoule media library. A permanent exhibition of Jean Laniau’s work is on display at Théoule Town Hall.


Femme allongée (Popoy 1993)

Sphynxesse, it is on the seaside after the Charles Dahon parking lot.

Monument aux morts

Monument erected in memory of the soldiers who died for France during the Second World War.

Plaque du Touring Club (1903)

Commemorative plate in enamelled sheet metal on a retaining wall of RD 6098 towards Miramar. It pays tribute to Abel Ballif, president of the Touring Club, thanks to the tenacity with which the RN 98 was built.

Croix de Lorraine (1991)

The monumental stele, visible from the sea, celebrates the centenary of the birth of General de Gaulle. It was erected on RD 6098, Pointe de l’Esquillon, on the site where the Naval Assault Group of Corsica landed on August 15, 1944 to allow by its action the intervention of the 141st American Infantry Regiment. The next day, August 16, 1944. Théoule-sur-mer was the first town liberated at the cost of the lives of 11 officers and sailors. 19 others will be wounded and 27 taken prisoner.

Galatée (Saintout 1988)

From the Greek mythology, Galatea is one of the Nereidus (marine nymph), Daughter of Nereus and Doris, loved by the Cyclops, his love was for the shepherd Acis. The work is located on the Pradayrol Promenade.

Les Lauriers Roses (Gille Chaix 1986)

This work is discovered on the small garden in front of the station of Theoule.

Temple du Paradis et Diane de l’Esterel (Popoy 1995)

At the origin of the legend of the fairy Estérelle, who was invoked to obtain fertility and who gave her name to the Esterel massif, is the hypothesis that the Greeks built a temple here dedicated to Diana of Ephesus, goddess of the fertile love of humans and the earth.

La Rascasse (Evangelisti 2014)

La Rascasse, made up of numerous scales, was erected in aid of the 2014 Telethon.

Château de Théoule-sur-mer (17th century)

Originally, the castle was a soap factory built in 1630 by a group of Marseillais. It was fed by the olive groves of the region and the soda necessary for the manufacture of soap came from Egypt. The foundations and vaulted cellars remain of the original building. The castle was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century and transformed several times before taking its final form around 1905.
